Rick Wickman, a British composer and musician, played the piano on Thursday, September 24 (October 2), at an open-air concert for more than 150 rescued bears kept at the Ijah Animal Sanctuary in northern Vietnam.

At the charity's center in Tom Dow National Park, Wakeman sat behind a grand piano and played for the crowd. Participants were Asian black bears rescued from bile extraction farms.

Wickman, who is an ambassador for the Igaa Animals Institute, said this event is both a celebration of rescuing bears that have been freed from unfavorable conditions and a reminder of the importance of rescuing bears that still need help.

He praised the Vietnamese government's actions to deal with the bear bile extraction industry and expressed hope that other countries in the region would follow suit.
