This is the latest development in the conflict between the White House and the media; Earlier, the White House was forced to lift restrictions on some news outlets at the behest of a federal judge.

CNN was supposed to be part of Mr. Trump's trip to Tennessee to watch a college football game, along with several other media outlets, but in a memo released by the White House on Friday evening, the network's name did not appear on the list of media programs for the trip.

The BBC has contacted the White House for clarification.

CNN reported that in the president's initial plan, no other media outlets were named as an alternative to this network.

Last week, Mr. Trump barred reporters from CNN, Politico and Amazon Now from the White House, accusing them of "loneliness" or "lies" about his administration. All three media outlets said they would take legal action to protect their rights and blamed Donald Trump.
