Referring to the shortage of medicines, the spokesman of the Iranian Pharmacists Association said that currently, "we have about 800 items of essential medicines, of which less than 50 items are facing a shortage".

According to Hadi Ahmadi, if branded drugs are considered, the number of deficit items will increase.

Pointing out the need for additional support from the pharmaceutical industry regarding the increase in drug prices, he said that this increase occurred for various reasons such as "the removal of the preferred currency, changes in the means of transportation and the increase in the price of raw materials, packaging materials and aluminum" and the sum of these factors increased the cost of manufacturing and supplying the drugs, and as a result the patients' payment also increased.
