After a wave of criticism over privacy concerns, Meta has unveiled a new model of smart glasses that only have voice capabilities and no camera.

This product was unveiled in a situation where concerns about privacy and photography, especially of women and girls without their consent, have increased around the world.

Modern smart glasses equipped with cameras allow users to take pictures, record videos, listen to music, make phone calls, translate texts or interact with an artificial intelligence assistant.

Meta said it sold more than seven million of these glasses last year.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, when introducing the new model said that the removal of the camera created many possibilities for the design of these glasses; but he said nothing about the ongoing criticism of privacy.

Meta released its first smart glasses in 2021, and these glasses have been advancing ever since. Last year, this company unveiled glasses equipped with a screen that displays images on the lens of the glasses.
