Delacy Rodriguez, the interim president of Venezuela, met with Donald Trump for the first time since he came to power.

The two talked to each other on the sidelines of the UN meeting in New York. This is the same city where Nicolás Maduro is imprisoned.

Ms Rodriguez described the meeting with Mr Trump as a "historic step" and said the two discussed cooperation in energy, mining and security.
