Cuban representatives left the hall during Trump's speech

U.S. President Donald Trump, in his speech to the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, described Cuba as one of America's closest neighbors and said that the country has "totally failed." He also said that his government is pursuing a "fundamental change in the situation in Cuba."

Trump said: "This situation will change."

While Trump continued his speech, the Cuban delegation left the General Assembly hall.

Over the past year, the US president has increased his criticism of Cuba's communist government. He said Tuesday that the Cuban government is under "tremendous pressure" and is "failing more than ever."

However, the US government has yet to provide specifics about how Washington wants the changes to look in Cuba.

The Cuban foreign minister, Bruno Rodriguez, in response to Trump's comments, criticized the US president and accused him of publishing "false claims". Rodriguez wrote on the X social network: "The US government cannot accept that Cuba is a completely independent and sovereign country and has the right to remain such a country."
