In his speech, Macron emphasized the importance of defending Ukraine

In his speech at the UN General Assembly, French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized the necessity of ending the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Mr Macron said France would "spare no effort" to start beneficial negotiations between Russia and Ukraine as soon as possible.

He emphasized that as the winter season approaches, Ukraine must be protected "more than ever."

The French president also called for a "mutual cessation" of attacks on energy and civilian infrastructure on both sides.

He asked Ukraine and Russia to stop their attacks on the Black Sea region to free grain shipments.

Mr. Macron described the situation in Gaza as "shameful scenes for everyone" and said: "The most basic rights of the Palestinians are being violated."
