Reha Akhan, an open water swimmer, became the first Iranian swimmer to swim the English Channel between France and Great Britain.

Ms Akhwan began her swim in the early hours of Monday 21 September (September 30) and after 18 hours and 58 minutes of non-stop swimming, she covered the distance from the UK port of Dover to Cape Grene near the port of Calais in France.

In this swim, Ms. Ahvan became the first Iranian woman and the third Iranian woman to win the "Three Crowns" title. The title "Triple Crown" is given to swimmers who have completed three open water swims, the Catalina Channel in California, Manhattan Island in New York and the English Channel.

This Iranian swimmer tried to swim the English Channel two years ago, but unfavorable weather conditions and high waves prevented him. At the same time, in an interview with BBC Persian, Mrs. Akhwan said she would "like" to try this path again.
