Tokyo's fire brigade told the BBC they found the body of a woman in her 60s who had been "buried" in her home under rubble after the flood. But they managed to save a man who was trapped under the rubble.

Japanese officials said on Monday that this typhoon "threatens the lives of about 2 million". But as the typhoon subsided on Tuesday, September 22 (September 31), the order to evacuate homes on Japan's east coast was lifted and people returned to the affected areas.
