Scott Bessant, the American Treasury Secretary, said that starting tomorrow, the skies of the world will be closed to all Iranian airlines, and any cooperation with these companies will result in sanctions.

Guo Jiakun, a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said at a press conference: "China has always opposed illegal unilateral sanctions that have no basis in international law or the approval of the UN Security Council."

The criticism comes ahead of Donald Trump's meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping on Thursday.
