The foreign ministers of the G7 member states called and condemned the Houthis' attacks on Saudi Arabia as "unacceptable". The G7 group asked Iran to refrain from supporting and arming the Houthis.

The foreign ministers of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States wrote in statements: "We ask the Houthis to immediately cease all military actions, threats and attacks against civilian shipping and to return to the political process in good faith."

They also asked Iran to stop "arming" and "supporting" the Houthis and accused Tehran of violating previous UN Security Council resolutions in these actions.

In rejecting the sending of weapons and military support to the Houthis, Iran says its support for the Houthis is political. In recent weeks the Houthis captured ants and strategic islands overlooking Babilmandev.
