Qatar says it is trying to facilitate an agreement "even in the short term" between the US and Iran

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar announced that this country is working in coordination with Pakistan to facilitate the achievement of an agreement between Tehran and Washington.

In his speech at the Concordia Summit in New York, Majed Ansari said that "Doha is trying to mediate and open a path for dialogue between Iran and America."

He added that Qatar is trying to prepare the ground for an agreement, "even a short-term agreement."

Mr. Ansari stated that the conditions for the start of the talks are based on the opening of the Strait of Hormuz and the parties avoiding threats of using military force.
