Scott Bessant told CNBC: "On September 23 (in two days), all Iranian airlines will be closed worldwide."

He warned that Iranian airlines around the world will face serious problems in any kind of activity in two days under the pressure of American sanctions.

The US Treasury Secretary made these statements a day after meeting with the Chinese Vice Premier.

According to the AFP news agency, this meeting prepared the ground for a meeting between the American and Chinese leaders on Thursday. China is one of Iran's most important economic partners and diplomatic supporters.

Mr. Besant explained that if Iranian planes land at an airport, "you can't give them fuel, you can't provide airport services, you can't sell their tickets; "otherwise you'll be out of the dollar system."
