Three American media outlets are suing Trump for barring reporters from entering the White House
CNN, Politico and Amazon Now are three American media outlets that have announced they will sue the Trump administration after their reporters were barred from entering the White House.
Mr. Trump announced on Friday that he would ban reporters from those three media outlets from entering the White House. He accused these three news organizations of publishing "fake and lies" about his government.
Those three media outlets say their reporters could not enter the White House building on Saturday and that their reporter cards were confiscated after their access was cut off.
The three media outlets announced in a joint statement Monday that they will take legal action to "protect their First Amendment rights and protect the principle that the US government does not determine what the press reports or publishes."
The First Amendment of the US Constitution prohibits the government of that country from "restricting" the freedom of the media. "Without any notice or due process, the White House revoked our reporters' access cards because they disagreed with our reporting," CNN, Politico and Amazon Now said in a joint statement.
The statement continues: "If this action is not addressed, this issue threatens the freedom of the media and the right of the people to have access to an independent press and away from government interference."

When Trump announced the ban last week, he did not name a specific report or story that prompted the decision, but later said, "It's really a collection of things that have come out over the last few years."
The American president also added that "other media outlets may also join them."
When a reporter later asked Trump what he meant by that, he replied: "You mean the other fake media outlets that are going to be added? Well, you know, the New York Times is fake media, the Washington Post is also fake media." Mr Trump has taken legal action against several US and international media outlets, including the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times and the BBC.
Several court cases resulted in the media agreeing to pay several million dollars. Mr Trump's lawsuit against the BBC is still ongoing
