CEO of Qatar Energy: Hormuz Strait crisis could delay our development projects

Saad Kaabi, CEO of Qatar Energy, says the Hormuz Strait crisis could delay the implementation of some of the company's development projects, as essential equipment cannot enter Qatar.

According to him, Qatar Energy currently produces only a \"very small\" amount of liquefied natural gas (LNG), but if the Hormuz Strait opens, normal operations could resume within weeks.

Mr. Kaabi said at Qatar's economic forum in New York that some units of the North-East gas field development project are scheduled to start in 2027 and production of the North-South field project will also begin in 8 028.

On Sunday, Iran again announced that it will not open the Hormuz Strait until the June temporary ceasefire agreement with the United States is fulfilled, as interpreted by Tehran.
