He described the media's influence on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's lives as "cancerous" and said people should "learn" from Diana's example.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently returned to Britain from California, six years after stepping down from royal duties.

They repeatedly criticized the media.

In an interview with Laura Kunzberg, Earl Spencer said:

"If you look at a tabloid article about Diana or the couple you mentioned - Harry and Meghan - you can see they can be really, really unpleasant."

"I think it's up to people to learn from Diana's example."
