Reports of "massive disruption" at Riyadh International Airport

Agence France-Presse reported the occurrence of "widespread disturbances" at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, including flight cancellations and delays.

The report was published after residents of the area saw smoke and flames near the airport.

The disruption occurred after Saudi Arabian authorities issued an airstrike warning overnight.

Although several warnings were issued in Riyadh this year after the start of the American war and Israel's capture with Iran, these were the first warnings since the escalation of tensions with the Houthis.

The Houthis, who control the most populated areas of Yemen and the northern part of the country, recently increased their attacks on Saudi Arabia and attacked Saudi ships in the Red Sea.

These attacks created new threats to global oil supplies and put the main alternative Red Sea route for the Persian Gulf countries' oil exports at risk. Meanwhile, traffic in the Strait of Hormuz is still blocked.
