Donald Trump, the president of the United States, announced on Friday, in an unprecedented move, that he will ban reporters from three media outlets, CNN, Amazon Now and Politico, from entering the White House because of what he called "fake news".

Donald Trump wrote Friday in a post on the Social Truth website that the media "constantly writes or reports stories or lies" about his administration, though he did not provide examples.

It is not yet known whether the employees of these media outlets will be prevented from entering the White House grounds or not.

CNN quickly reacted to this action and condemned it as an "illegal ground attack" to free the American press.

Shortly after the news broke, Donald Trump answered questions from reporters in the Oval Office and said that "others may join them," but did not name any specific news channel. He also acknowledged that legal challenges could arise after the announcement, saying: "I think it's good to mention this issue, whether this action survives or not."
