Poland joined Ukraine's anti-ballistic missile coalition

Donald Tusk, the prime minister of Poland, announced on Friday that this country, along with Ukraine and other allies, had joined the coalition to deal with ballistic missiles.

In a video published on X, Mr. Tusk said: "From today Poland is part of this big project... We have reached an agreement on the form and framework of this cooperation."

This news follows Mr. Tusk's participation in the summit of a new regional group consisting of eight countries of the Carpathian Mountains. The meeting was held at the initiative of Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, in the west of the country.

In July, Ukraine and nine European countries announced the establishment of an air defense alliance, which includes the joint development of a new anti-ballistic missile system as a cheaper alternative to the American Patriot system.

At the press conference of this meeting, the Prime Minister of Poland announced that this country had prepared a new and "significant" aid package for Ukraine. Mr Tusk, however, did not provide further details.

He also said: "Poland should support Ukraine in the war against Russian aggression... History cannot separate us in relation to Russia."
