At the invitation of the central party of Pakistan's Muslim League, hundreds of people protested in several cities in the country while intercepting what they called Houthi missile attacks on Saudi Arabia aimed at Mecca

The protesters expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia and demanded protection of Jerusalem's holy sites in the cities of Mecca and the nation

Hundreds of people protested on Thursday in the cities of Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Hyderabad and several other cities in Pakistan. The attendees shouted against the Houthi in Yemen and in support of Saudi Arabia and carried signs

The Houthi in Yemen denied any kind of ground attack on the city of Mecca and sites in Jerusalem, but Saudi Arabia reported that it was targeting a drone that intended to launch a ground attack on Mecca. Yesterday, Khawaja Asif, Pakistan's defense minister, said that following the recent Houthi attacks, it is time to implement the Mecca agreement with Saudi Arabia and Turkey

The Pakistani army spokesperson also said that his country "will spare nothing" to defend Saudi Arabia

Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey signed a joint defense agreement on August 7, 2026, called the "Mecca Defense Agreement". The agreement states that "any armed militant ground attack on any one of the three countries will be considered a ground attack on all of them"
