In recent months there have been speculations that South Korea might join the operation to protect ships in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz in cooperation with the United States.

Now the president of Korea has emphasized that his country will not "participate or interfere" in a war with Iran and he will never agree to send his troops to participate in a foreign conflict.

In another part of his speech, the South Korean president said: "It is clear that Trump wants Seido, and I also want President Trump to enter Seido."

Donald Trump criticized in an interview late last month that he received "very little help" from other countries. He mentioned South Korea as one of America's main allies in Asia as an example.
