Evening: A Houthi drone is intercepted near Mecca

The Saudi air defense says it intercepted and destroyed a drone launched by the Houthis in Yemen before it entered Mecca's restricted airspace. This incident happened after the Houthis increased their attacks on parts of Saudi Arabia.

Turki Maliki, the spokesman for the coalition led by Saudi Arabia in the war in Yemen, said in statements that this is the second time that the Houthis have hit Mecca; The first time is related to the firing of a ballistic missile in July 2017.

At the same time, on Tuesday, September 15, a security warning was issued for a short time in Makkah, Jeddah and Taif, and later the civil defense officials of Saudi Arabia announced that "the danger has been eliminated."

The warning was issued to Mecca in a situation where this city had not seen such an event before during the latest round of clashes.

A day earlier, Houthi missile and drone attacks on three cities in Saudi Arabia, according to the coalition, injured 13 civilians and damaged seven houses and two cars. The Houthis denied any threats against Mecca or other locations in Jerusalem.
