The passenger ship "Virgo Transport 8" carried 243 people and left the city of Surbia in East Java.

The Indonesian Search and Rescue Organization previously announced that the ship had completely sunk.

The Java Sea is between the islands of Java and Borneo and is part of the waters of the western Pacific Ocean. This sea is relatively shallow and has an average depth of 46 meters.
