The American SWIFT space telescope left orbit and burned up in the Earth's atmosphere over Indonesia after 22 years of operation, NASA reported. The observatory studied gamma ray bursts - the most powerful energy explosions in the universe. During its operation, the telescope detected more than 2,000 gamma ray bursts and 1,400 supernova explosions. An attempt to expand its service using a satellite carrying a link in July failed.
