The European Union has allowed the cancellation of the visa-free regime with Georgia, said the head of EU diplomacy, Kaja Kala, Sputnik reports. According to her, the reason was Tbilisi's withdrawal from democratic principles. In January, the foreign ministers of the EU countries intend to discuss further steps regarding Georgia. "The steps taken by the Georgian authorities are going in the wrong direction. We will send clear signals to the government that we do not support their policies," Kalas said. Sanctions could not yet be imposed against the top leadership of the EU country, since most of the member states of the union oppose these restrictions.
