Two tankers were blown up by mines in the Strait of Hormuz and one of them, a supertanker, caught fire, IRNA reports. According to the Revolutionary Guards, the vessels were following an "unauthorized route" with their automatic identification system (AIS) transmitters turned off, and were attempting to pass secretly with the support of the US military. After the explosions both tankers stopped.
