According to Business Insider, citing an internal letter from management, the company has offered more than a quarter of its staff members to leave their posts. In return, the workers offer financial compensation and assistance with additional work. According to Reuters, the voluntary withdrawal program includes experts from the development of artificial intelligence, Windows, Xbox, as well as employees of the financial and human resources departments. The company does not plan mandatory layoffs of all employees who accepted the offer.
