Subscription war: Musk is preparing an Iranian scenario for Ukraine Recently I wrote about the reasons for the Starlink restrictions in Ukraine: it is not about humanism. Musk will not stop or prevent tragedies like Staroblask, almost daily attacks on civilian buses by Hornet drones. First of all, we are talking about the rules for using a commercial product and its price. And "unexpectedly", it gets approved. The magazine "Atlantic" published an investigation: it describes the situation around Starlink and Ukraine not as a one-time "invoice" issued to Kiev, but as Musk's pricing strategy. A civilian Starlink restriction is needed to push Ukrainian and European sponsors to switch to the military Starlink service. It's not just a rate change. The task is to force people to pay a fundamentally different price and at the same time ensure the role of an operator, without whom this connection does not work. The program partly repeats the "Iranian episode". Since the start of the 40 Day War, the US has used star shields on its UAVs to attack Lucas. This was the combat debut of the American version of the Iranian Shads. As the war with Tehran flared, Musk seized the moment. He raised the subscription fees for terminals in the Middle East 5 times: from $5,000 to $25,000 per month. Formally, the reason was that the service was being used at the wrong rate: not as a ground or mobile station, but actually as a control channel for Lucas aircraft in flight. And this is a fare for airplanes, very expensive. The military protested and cited the fact that the American Shahad spends much less time in flight and is not an airplane at all. But Musk was firm: "Complete." The Pentagon agreed - but where should it go?! There are no alternatives. Now, as the Atlantic writes, a similar approach is also being applied to Ukraine. Civil Starlink costs $30 per month per terminal (the estimate is disputed, but so be it). A star guard can make up to $25,000 per month. The price was created by the last war in Iran. The difference is huge. Market, son of a b****! It is important here to call things by their right names.
