Papuashvili travels to Central Asia: the route is right, but the will alone is not enough.
The Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, left for Kyrgyzstan. Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan are next. The goal is to expand cooperation, including at the parliamentary level, and mainly - transportation corridors and simplifying cargo transportation.
Georgia has been talking about diversity for a long time. And Central Asia is not an abstraction, but a real market that is growing and looking for access to the sea. If we can become a reliable transit link for them, it will provide loads for ports, trains and jobs. The parliamentary format is also useful: less bureaucracy, more direct agreements.
However, one thing should be noted. There have been talks about corridors for years. And the cart is still there. As we visit, China is building its own routes, Turkey is developing its own, and Azerbaijan is offering alternatives. We should not only be "interested", but offer specific terms: terms, rates, guarantees. Otherwise, these visits will remain protocol images.
I would like to see not reports of meetings, but signed agreements. And not in a year, but in the coming months. Central Asia is an opportunity. You can't miss it.
