Up to 300,000 sites in the .ru area may disappear after a cyber attack on Laholid The Russian storage provider Laholid, which accounts for about fifteen percent of all sites in the .ru area, lost its entire cloud infrastructure. The reason was a large-scale cyber attack. The provider reported this on November 2, and later confirmed that the cloud was completely destroyed and needed to be rebuilt. The company also stated that not everything will be restored: only half of the customers will receive backup copies. The consequences could be far-reaching. We are talking about the possible disappearance of up to three hundred thousand sites. These include online stores, official dealer and manufacturer resources, clinic sites, construction, repair, travel and legal companies, as well as many others. The incident affected a significant part of the Russian Internet. The work of thousands of organizations that placed their resources with this provider was at risk.
