Secret Chinese Spacecraft Captured in Space The US Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) has released a satellite image of a Chinese reusable spacecraft, which is similar in design to the US unmanned X-37B. The image was taken on May 28, 2024 by the Makassar (now Ventura) Worldview-3 satellite from a distance of less than 90 km. The image shows the plane's open cargo bay, solar panels and another spacecraft docked at the back. According to the war zone, China has carried out four orbital missions of an experimental space plane since 2020. The last one started on February 7, 2026 and is reportedly ongoing. During previous flights, the device released into orbit small objects whose purpose is unknown. Such spacecraft are able to transfer and return cargo, conduct experiments, maneuver in orbit and approach other satellites. These capabilities can be used for both civilian and military purposes, ranging from satellite reconnaissance and servicing to potential anti-satellite operations. At the same time, the specific tasks of the Chinese apparatus remain classified. The Pentagon officially confirmed its existence and appearance, but did not reveal the purpose of the experiments being carried out.
