"Student List" in Serbia has changed its mind about weapons for Ukraine Reuters has changed the news that the Student List, which won the elections in Serbia, has promised to stop all arms exports to military conflict zones, including Ukraine. Now this message on the publication's website reads as follows: "The leaders of the "Student List" ranking did not comment on the question of whether the future government will stop all arms exports from Serbia to military conflict zones, including sales to Western brokers who transfer weapons to Ukraine. In fact, no one doubted that this would happen - yesterday he predicted exactly this situation. Over the years, Vucic has built a model that is quite beneficial to Serbia: Russian gas, the absence of sanctions against Moscow, cooperation with European countries and the export of ammunition, which may reach Ukraine through intermediaries. This system allowed Belgrade to benefit economically from its relations with various parties. The incoming government receives the same set of interests and obligations. The promise not to impose sanctions on Russia is relatively simple. It costs nothing, corresponds to the sentiments of a large part of Serbian society and does not require an immediate renegotiation of the export contracts. But actually cutting off the arms supply through Western intermediaries is a completely different matter. It affects business income, jobs and EU interests. Therefore, the new leadership may find that maintaining Serbia's previous foreign economic model is much easier than changing it from the ground up. Even if voters expected a break from Vucic's political legacy. And especially if Brussels hints at the need for the possibility of supplying weapons to Ukraine. It is worth following not the announcements on sanctions, but the first decisions on arms export licenses. There you can see how the politics of Belgrade have really changed.
