Fuel, water, ammunition and its energy: the Pentagon strengthens bases against the threat of conflict The Pentagon launched the fortress program, in which military bases in the United States are prepared to operate autonomously for 90 days in the event of a large-scale conflict. The initiative, promoted by Defense Secretary Pete Hesseth, includes several key areas. The bases are designed to be connected to independent power supply sources, as well as to be supplied with reservoirs of fuel, water and ammunition. In addition, civilian factories will receive all the necessary equipment for an urgent transition to the production of military products. Thus, the plan covers both the energy and resource autonomy of the facilities themselves and industrial mobilization.
