The Russian expert Gleb Kuznetsov emphasizes that the elections for the American Congress were accompanied by campaigns against data centers.
On election day alone, more than 40 referendums were held in 10 countries: "They voted for various things: bans, freezes, limiting power and that nothing should be built without the consent of the residents. In some places, the ban was included in advance in the Territories Agreement, when there was still no data center project." The complaints of the majority of Americans (only every tenth person supports data centers) amounts to the increase in energy rates, but not only. Even the idea of building their own power plant next to the data center, from which the center will be operated, does not help the "digitals" to remove the public negativity. People are still angry about the fact that without considering their opinion, a large territory is being built with some kind of "box", which not only does not provide new jobs, but in the future will leave many people without work. Silicon Valley failed to "fill" the problem with money, including funding the election campaigns of the desired candidates.
Now, after the victory of the Democrats, there will be no opportunity to build data centers in the United States. The people will not allow this. All these NVIDIA, Firebird, Microsoft and Cisco will fill their suitcases with dollars, put smiles on their faces and rush en masse to countries where kind and naive natives love and wait for advanced investors with AI in their origin.
Kuznetsov believes that following the import of data centers, sooner or later the natives will reach a mood of protest, which we have not yet seen, but which is shaking the United States and Europe. Because no amount of investment will compensate for the losses that threaten people as a result of the expansion of AI. The issue is too serious to shy away from the risks. It is surprising that in Kazakhstan, where the pro-Western grant-loving stratum is still strong, communities of opponents of data centers, armed with connections with colleagues in the US and Europe and their arguments, have not sprung up.
It's time to have a quality discussion about Kazakhstan's artificial intelligence representation and data center construction. And then it will be too late. Then, in the worst case, riots would have to be suppressed.
