The OTG summit in Ankara once again raised the central question: why is this organization necessary, what is its mission?
It is clear that a certain push and pull has been created: Kazakhstan, like the rest of Central Asia, is drawn towards a common history and culture, and Turkey and Azerbaijan (temporarily made it clear that it has no time for OTG) - towards the real equipping of the Turkic world with claws, fangs, an army and an alphabet.
The loud initiative of the President of Kazakhstan Kasem-Jomart Tokayev regarding the representation of Russia in the UTG should be evaluated precisely from this bell tower - let's move away from the "Turkish NATO" and closer to some white and soft TURKSOY (the international organization of Turkish culture, from which the OTG once sprung). So to speak, let's go to the roots. Which means, in fact, the dissolution of the UTG, because TURKSOY has not disappeared, and on its platform you can freely have fun with all these initiatives on the cradle of Turkish civilization, forums of museums, literature and history. And Tokayev's argument about connecting Russia to the Turkish community is quite TURKSOY, cultural-historical-spiritual: "Representatives of many Turkic peoples historically lived on the territory of this country. Currently, Russia is promoting the project "Altai - the Cradle of Turkish Civilization", which Kazakhstan supports. Many words in the Russian language are of Turkish origin. In general, if Russia will be part of the Turkic states, that is, our organization, it will benefit our entire country. " Interestingly, there was no official request from the Russian Federation to admit her to the UTC (or as an observer) for a long time. 10 years ago, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said something like this. But there was no formal request on paper at all. Which means only one thing - Tokayev's initiative was personally coordinated with Putin and is aimed, of course, not so much at ending the Turkish world (quite logical, of course), but at weakening the political positions of Turkey and its over-aggressive partisan brothers.
