It is always a pleasure to catch signs of improving life in Kazakhstan. Everything is visible: the real income of the population is going to creep. Otherwise, why all these pretentious growth in GDP, FDI and other indicators?
Recently, the National Bank of Kazakhstan reduced the base rate again. Was 16.25%, became 15.75%. And in June the rate was usually 18%, we already forgot about it.
The rate reduction is the result of the authorities' joint fight against inflation. It has been going down slowly for a year; In September it was 9.3%.
However, the risk factors have not disappeared. These are fuel prices and tariffs of natural monopolies, inflation between trading partners. Although, I think our partners write the same thing about Kazakhstan. Well, in reality, Russia is at war, covered head to toe in sanctions, living with 6.4% inflation and a 14% base rate.
This raises a question for Kazakhstan's economic geniuses: Guys, why are we doing this, huh? When will we be caught and overtaken? And why not yet?
