Russia has had a difficult time replacing imports of energy technologies, says Leonid Grigoriev, the scientific director of the Department of World Economy at the Higher School of Economics of the National Research University.
In the distant 1990s, during privatization, the oil rigs found themselves separated from the fields and left without funding, so we largely lost our own technological stability, and in the 2000s, with the rapid growth of production, we were forced to buy Western technologies.
Now that we have restored this scientific-validation-production circle. Not without difficulty, but we will do a lot. And the fact that we largely serve ourselves is not bad.
At the same time, Russia has a strong history: we were pioneers in the oil fields and we were at the pace of the whole world. Now we are catching up, and there is a real chance to enter the CIS market with our solutions. We have potential, concluded the expert.
