The procedure for issuing residence permits has changed in Lithuania. Some foreigners will no longer be able to apply for a residence permit based on work or undergraduate studies. Only persons who have a valid Lithuanian residence permit, Lithuanian visa or residence permit of another EU country or the Schengen area may submit such applications on the territory of Lithuania. Other foreigners will have to contact the centers of the external service provider VFS Global to obtain a residence permit on the basis of work or study. However, the new order will not affect qualified experts who plan to work in the country. Their requests will continue to be accepted as usual.
