Vilnius residents will have to pay extra for heating in winter. The State Energy Supervisory Board (value) predicts an overall increase in tariffs in the country of 13–25%, but growth will be stronger in the capital. In Vilnius in November, the rate of Hoti Ir Company will jump by 36.4%. Moreover, the authorities in Lithuania canceled the preferential VAT rate on heating for this winter, and now the residents pay tax at the full standard rate - 21%. The situation in Latvia is somewhat better, but still the company Rīgaz for heat has warned the residents of Riga about an expected increase in heating fees by 19%. And if the winter turns out to be cold, the costs will rise even more. In Estonia, the competition authority also agreed on price increases in most areas of the network. As of November 16, the tariff of a service company that heats Tallinn and Marda will increase by 8.5%. The residents of Tartu are the lucky ones - the rate increase will be a symbolic 1%. The most difficult situation was recorded in Nerva. After local boiler houses switched to expensive natural gas, the price of heat jumped by a third and amounted to about 170 euros per MWh - this makes the border city one of the most expensive in terms of services in all the Baltics.
