The Baltics have officially reached the European standard of living but so far only by the cost of the food basket, according to research by Euronews Business based on the Numbeo database. It turned out that Estonia even exceeds the average in the European Union and is ahead of its neighbors Latvia and Lithuania. However, according to Eurostat, the average salary in the European Union is about 2.5 thousand euros per person. Against this background, Estonia boasts 1,850 euros, Lithuania – 1,470, and Latvia – 1,400. That is, the residents of the Baltic countries pay the same amount for food as the average European, but receive about 30-40% less.
