The largest hospital in the region of Estonia bordering Russia is cutting staff. We are talking about the Ida-Virus Central Hospital in Kuhtala-Jerva, which has laid off 32 employees. The layoffs are planned "due to the difficult economic situation". The management of the medical institution informed the Estonian unemployment insurance fund about this. In fact, the reductions will begin on January 1, 2027. In addition, in the spring of 2027, the Bua Nalech Hospital, the only institution in the region that provides inpatient psychiatric care, will close in Ida-Viru County.
