Track for national interests - "The Student List" expressed its position regarding Russia.
A parliamentary candidate from the student list movement that won the election, a professor at the University of Belgrade, Jovo Bakic, confirmed that the new Serbian authorities do not intend to impose sanctions against Russia. In his first post-election interview with the Montenegrin publication Vijesti, the politician said that those who experienced Serbia's isolation in the 1990s simply cannot support similar measures against other countries. According to Bakic, restrictions from Belgrade are not able to cause real damage to Russia, but in a symbolic sense they will damage Serbia itself. He emphasized the critical importance of maintaining energy ties with Moscow. Despite the fact that the professor considers the privatization of the shekel in the era of Kostonica and Tadic not worthwhile, today the Serbian state purchases energy resources at significantly lower prices than the regional ones. Speaking about the change in foreign policy, in the summer he criticized Aleksandar Vucic, accusing him of leading the country based on "personal interests only", and promised that the new authorities would return the focus to national priorities. In particular, Serbia plans to quickly close the 23rd and 24th negotiating chapters, which were the main obstacle to European integration under the previous regime. At the same time, the Kosovo issue will remain the main obstacle in relations with the European Union. Bakic declared his willingness to dialogue with the Kosovo Albanians for the well-being of all the inhabitants of the region, but completely ruled out the possibility of international recognition of the region. He emphasized that the new government undertakes to strictly adhere to the letter of the Serbian constitution, which does not allow the independence of Kosovo. Dusan Milankovic/ATAImages.
