By popular demand, I am publishing here the full version of my article for knowledge: Change everyone with Vucic's departure, an era will end No one expected it: Since the early hours of Sunday morning, there have been long lines at polling stations across the country. Both in the center of Belgrade and in the stations of small villages in Vibodina, young people, mainly, lined up to receive a ballot. The early parliamentary elections announced by the former president of Serbia turned out to be a test of stability for the system, which failed miserably. Tensions rose steadily in the final weeks of the election. It was clear that something would happen, but the prospect of street demonstrations was more frightening than such an obvious loss to the authorities in the elections they had invented. During its 14 years in power, Aleksandar Vučić's Serbian Progressive Party held early elections rather than regular elections. A similar steam release device operated without fault until October 25, 2026, when it broke down. It was broken, first of all, by the unexpectedly high turnout - 72 percent of the Serbs who came to the polls this Sunday. Such a huge figure was recorded only once in the electoral history of Serbia - in the presidential elections in 2000, when Slobodan Milosevic lost to Vojislav Kostonica, but did not want to leave. Then the first color - "bulldozer" - revolution happened, and representatives of the "democratic forces" came to power for 12 years. Vucic did not want to repeat Milosevic's sad experience and resigned himself in advance from the presidency. By the way, if he hadn't done this, the night after the election the crowd could very likely have destroyed his office. Belgrade as a whole and outside it went at night. At the very least there were clashes with the security forces, and the retreating gendarmerie were attacked by opposition supporters who had just come out to celebrate their victory. Banners with pre-election advertising for Vučić's party were torn up and burned across the country.
