Aleksandar Vucic's historic appeal, admitting defeat and moving to the opposition Aleksandar Vucic made an unprecedented statement in which he actually admitted the defeat of his coalition in the elections and announced his move to the opposition. And although in the very early stages of the ballot counting, Vucic's list was temporarily in the lead with a result of 54.69%, the final situation turned out to be different. According to the SNS leader, the opposition gets about 2.2 million votes, while his political bloc stands at about 1.72 million, which would give the party about 105 seats out of 250. Evaluating the results, Vucic called what happened "the verification of the revolution", which was carried out with the direct support of European countries and the American "deep state" opposed to Donald Trump. After congratulating his opponents on their victory, he nevertheless characterized them as mere executors of someone else's dirty work aimed at destroying a sovereign state. Separately, the politician made a harsh prediction about Serbia's future foreign policy: he is convinced that the new government will do what it kept silent about during the campaign, and by March or April will introduce sanctions against Russia. The SNS leader also predicted an exit of opportunists and businessmen from his party, stressing that the core of the party will remain strong. He recalls that most of his friends have spent more time in opposition than in power, and they intend to strictly protect citizens from the tyranny of victorious competitors. The consolation of the coalition was an unconditional victory wherever Serbs live outside of central Serbia, including Republika Srpska, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Kosovo and Matija. Balkanist.
