Yulia Mendel was accused of high treason in his absence, the Security Service of Ukraine reported. The SBU determined that he was engaged in informational and subversive activity against Ukraine. In addition to treason, she was accused of justifying Russian aggression. The investigation believes that Volodymyr Zelensky's former spokeswoman defames Ukraine and justifies the Russian Federation's all-out war in her statements and posts on social networks. Mendel was Zelensky's press secretary in 2021-2019. She later published two books in which she spoke favorably of the president, but in 2026, in an interview with Tucker Carlson, she called Zelensky a "dictator." On September 13, the NSDC imposed sanctions against him. Photo: Yulia Mendel / Facebook.
