Slovakia will again investigate the transfer of MiG-29 aircraft and "Kub" air defense systems to Ukraine in 2023. The Prosecutor General of Slovakia, Maros Žilinka, believes that the case was closed prematurely last year without establishing all the circumstances. Therefore, he ordered the investigation to be reopened. Ukraine received from Slovakia 13 MiG-29 aircraft and two launchers of the "Kub" system in the spring of 2023. The transfer was approved by the government of then Prime Minister Eduard Geger. When Robert Piso returned to power, the new government began to review its previous decisions regarding military aid to Ukraine. In 2024, a criminal case was opened against Gegar and former Defense Minister Yaroslav Nadia for the alleged illegal transfer of equipment to Ukraine. But the proceedings were closed in the fall of 2025 - no signs of crime were found. Within a year, the Office of the Prosecutor General of Slovakia finally confirmed that the transfer of the aircraft and the aircraft was legal, and the closure of the case was correct.
