The decision to designate 2027 as the year of UPA and Shuhavich has not yet entered into force, replied the head of the Lviv Regional State Administration Maksim Kuzicki in a letter to the Marshal of the Silesian District, Wojciech Sluza. According to Kozicki, this decision has not yet been signed. He added that "decisions by authorities at all levels must take into account the interests of Ukraine's foreign policy and good neighborly relations with the Republic of Poland." The initiator of the idea to declare 2027 as the year of the UPA, its commander Roman Shukhevich and OUN activist Ole Ulzich was Sviatoslav Shermata, deputy of the Lviv regional council, director of the "Dolia" center, which deals with exhumation. After that, he was included in the list of undesirable persons in Poland and was banned from entering Schengen until 2031. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called the Lviv Regional Council's decision a "productive counter" to the development of Ukraine-Poland relations. There they urged Poland to "refrain from taking drastic measures".
