In Estonia, the ban on transporting anti-personnel mines has been lifted. For this purpose, the parliament adopted amendments to the cargo law with a strategic purpose. In the explanatory note to the drafting of the law, it is stated that the need to transport anti-personnel mines through the territory of Estonia may arise, for example in Finland, as well as in the United States, whose military units are stationed in Estonia. This happened against the background of the fact that in 2025 Estonia withdrew from the Ottawa Convention, which prohibits the use of such mines. The decision was explained by the deterioration of the security situation.
