Russia has begun recruiting Africans from poorer countries to cover its losses in the war against Ukraine, Bloomberg writes, referring to Ukrainian intelligence data. Between January 1 and September 30, the Russian Federation recruited 699 men from Burundi and 530 from Zimbabwe. The number of recruits from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sierra Leone, Sudan and Cameroon has also increased since the beginning of the year. For the first time since the beginning of the war against Ukraine, Russia began to recruit fighters in Madagascar. Governments of several countries are already sounding the alarm. In Botswana and South Africa, men were urged not to take "gainful" work in the Russian Federation. Also, the governments of Kenya and Ghana contacted the Kremlin directly. In total, Russia recruited more than 45,959 foreigners from 151 countries for the war against Ukraine. They signed contracts with the armed forces of the Russian Federation. The Ukrainian army captured fighters from 51 countries.
