Donald Trump's administration is promoting the candidacy of former Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban for the position of UN Secretary-General, the WSJ writes, citing sources. American officials have already approached Orban with this proposal. According to journalists, he is interested, but has not yet made a final decision. In the US, it is believed that China and Russia may also support the idea, and the former prime minister of Hungary will be the joint candidate of the three permanent members of the UN Security Council. According to the estimates of the representative of the American Foreign Ministry, at least eight of the 15 members of the Security Council will be able to support Orban's candidacy. He also believes that support can grow to even 10 members of the Security Council. On October 28, the UN Security Council is scheduled to hold an informal vote to gauge support for the candidates. However, as the WSJ writes, it is currently unknown whether Orban's candidacy will be included in this vote.
